I teach by critique, theoretical research and hands on practice. Ideas and practice are equally important. Libby Lumpkin suggests in her book, " Deep Design", that the blending of materiality and thought can redeem and transform the conceptual and tactile Arts. Giorgio Vasari showed that Art benefited greatly from the thinking artist.

I feel, rigorous thought and craftsmanship enhance the experience of art by the audience and the artist. My professional strengths include; the ability to adapt to situations and students quickly, to help others to implement their own ideas in a culturally effective way, to demonstrate a variety of media and technology, and to teach how to develop a sustainable economy in the studio. These skills require an extensive understanding of how the industry of art works. My years of exhibitions, workshops, commissions, and residencies have given me a unique viewpoint and method.

I believe that art and artists thrive in a community of close communication with other arts professionals engaged in significant endeavor. I use video, music, performance, objects of art, the voice, and architecture as elements of my art compositions, the focus of my research and the content of my teaching. I teach best by doing and including others in the process.
